Busy week

I've had a lot of time issues for the last few days and it will probably continue for several more days. I ran only 1.5 miles yesterday only 2.5 today.
I'm still thinking about doing the master cleanse again but I want to find aa good time to do it and eliminate cafiene 1st.

I did do the crossfit WOD today. It was all pull ups which are not my strong suit. I KNOW I will be sore tomorrow. Heck I'm sore now. then I did a bunch of 40 yard all out sprints with my friend Tony.

I'm heading to Atlanta on Tuesday. It is going to be a challange to get all the workouts in this week. I'll find a way I'm sure.

More when I get back.

Another pretty trail

I've been seeking out more offroad options to run lately. Today I went to the Audobon society wildlife refuge on Hilton Head. While there is not a lot of trails at all- maybe 1 1/2 miles total with only about a .6 mile loop that is really runable it was very pretty and there was not another soul around. I ran 4.5 miles stopping every .6 miles to do 10 bench jumps. There was one 100 yard streach that I sprinted each loop right before the bench jumps.

I'm hoping to find the time tomorrow to go back to pinkney island preserve to run with my friend Todd who I trained with a lot last year.

Have a great weekend!

30 mile recovery is not so bad!

In the past the 2nd day after a long run has been when the soreness really hits. This time around .....not so much! Yesterday I enjoyed an easy 2.2 miler for recovery today I did 6.2 miles with the middle mile or so as all out short intervals (150 meters all out/ 200 meters walk-jog)
Felt okay, I did seem to take the down time a little more seriously but I really went for it on the intervals.
I am still strugling with nutrition. I make healthy choices all day and then in the evening it falls apart. I need to get into an evening workout schedule.
Go run.

1st long run of the new year!

As scheduled I knocked out a 30 miler today!

That's the view from Pinkney Island about 8 miles into the run. It was more dificult than I thought it would be to run long on trails as compared to roads. THe pace was much slower. I did tell myself that milage was the only thing that mattered today and not to worry about pace but I have a hard time doing that. Toward the end I was worried that I wouldn't even make it back home in time to watch the boys when they got home. As it turned out I made it with an hour to spare.

The other pic is around 12 miles I think. I felt like some of the tape was coming undone. Turns out most of it was fine. I've been doing this for a little while now on my long runs. Really keeps the blisters away.
The other is me trying to perfect the self portrait while running. I took 3 of these and that is the closest I got to getting my head in. lol. I need to get a camera with a timer but this one is SO small that is great for running.
I really need to focus on speed for the next few weeks! 1/2 marathon is a month away so I should be able to be in good shape for it. I do need to focus on nutrition too. I would like to get below 190 before the race.
I hope all are having a great new year!
train smart- or at least fun.

what a beautiful day!

The nice thing about living in the south is, even in the winter, you are never more than a week or so from a beautiful day! It is January and it was 75 degrees or so today.
I went for a nice run after a frustrating morning at work and the stress just melted away! I did 6.2 miles with 6 short sprints. It felt great to get into the open air. It made me excited for the long run tomorrow. Run 6.2 weight 195

Fasting no more

Well, I did not succeed on the master cleanse this time.
day two I was miserable. Headaches, hunger, etc. called it off when I realized I had made plans w/ friend 3 weeks ago and didn't want to back out and also didn't want to be sitting at the table watching them eat while I had the lemonade.
I will try again later in the month or in feb.
One of the problems, I think, was caffiene addiction which added to the headaches. next time I will try to eliminate the cafiene first.
I've still been running but not as much as I would like. I really didn't feel well on the master cleanse so I only ran a little bit a few days. I have been boosting the intensity on the shorter days, except for day 2 of MC when I was miserable. I ran only 1 mile and was happy when it was over!

1/4/08

1/5/08

My kingdom for an apple!

Wow! I started master cleanse today. The morning was ......interesting. It is now almost bedtime and I am really hoping that the hunger will pass overnight.

I was fine until about 3pm when I went on my run. I did a 6 mile out and back. If I was on a short loop near the office I would have stopped at 4. I really ran out of gas because of not having any calories in me. I'm still glad I got the miles in.

After the run was the first time the hunger REALLY hit. It was no easy task coming home and smelling the the boys dinner being prepared!

Oh well, tomorrow is another day hopefully easier as far as food goes.
